Every second there seems to be a new article or post about QR Code usage. Some people say they are here to stay and are growing in popularity and usefulness. Others are a bit more skeptical and believe they are nothing short of a technological fad.
Fact is we are all learning just what to do with the funny little black & white squares. Marketers are determining best usage and purposes to ask consumers to link from their physical world to the internet. Consumers are beginning to recognize the quick access they can gain by scanning the code to an online world of information that is - let's face it - just plain easier than typing a long URL on your new touchscreen smartphone!
Everyday I’m seeing examples of unique and clever ways to use the QR Codes. Today, I read an article about a software for dog walking services – talk about using your mobile and online technology to the fullest! This software has the dogwalker scan a QR Code when they pick up the animal which enables a GPS tracking device and follows the walk your dog enjoys with mapping software. It emails the owner at the beginning and end of the timeframe and stores the details of the pet's trip out of doors so the owner can view the details of the dog’s adventure – all via print to mobile technology. See their website to check out the demo video on the software.
