Blogging about Blogging!

Cathy Crone, Dec 07, 2011

Marketing Profs recently completed a study on Content Marketing in the B2B world, and blogs are rising the ladder as one of the most popular tactics to include in your marketing strategy. A total of 65% of responders ranked blogs as one of their most popular tactics for Content Marketing. This represents a 27% increase over last year’s study.

This chart shows the top 8 most popular tactics use by those involved in B2B Content Marketing.

It’s really no big surprise, blogs are content rich and spread that wealth throughout the Internet, allowing your message to have legs. Spiders pick up your terminology and increase SEO for your company organically. Blogs can engage others, which then again just continues the extension of your message and your brand. They are becoming more and more popular as our email inbox is inundated daily with articles, whitepapers, meeting requests, etc. Blogs are similar to emails but your audience is engaged and actively seeking the information, instead of you throwing it at them hoping they’ll read it.

We rolled out our corporate blog platform earlier this summer and while at first it was a bit of struggle, our blog universe has grown quite substantially, and more and more our subject matter experts are realizing it is simply another form of expressing what they already know and talk about each day. While there are many tips of the trade and we certainly are gaining momentum, our blogs are content rich and allow opportunities to provide pertinent information to our clients and prospects that is useful and delivered in a short and concise manner.

So if you’re B2B or B2C, what is your company doing on the blogging front? Do you have a corporate blog? If not, do you have plans to incorporate that in 2012? I’m interested in hearing from some of you and doing a bit of research on the topic myself. Please share your thoughts and ideas in the comments box below. If I get enough responders, I might be able to create my own chart on this topic!

We're starting the redesign of our nice, but old flash website now. We've been so busy we're truly the shoemakers child. Our new site will be all html, with a blog too. As marketers who design sites for our clients, we know that daily and weekly changes to a website, including a blog entry can keep a website at the top of a google organic search and that's where we want to be! Thanks Cathy for your post!
